Adrian,
Hello again!
Your message is inflammatory, sensational, and prejudice. Unfortunately, you forgot to write anything about any of the recent horrors suffered by Americans, like those who died in the world trade center. Why don't you tell everyone about those who died in the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, or so many other terror attacks against the USA??? We don't want 'truth' to be the first casualty of war! So, why don't you tell your readers the whole story. You tell us this 'whole mess' (possible war with Iraq) was created by our leaders. Saddam Hussein was the guy who refused to do what the UN told him to do. The Un told him what to do in numerous UN resolutions. He was the guy who has been and who still is lying about weapons he wasn't supposed to have. He was the guy who has been and is killing his own people and terrorizing them to prevent them from talking to inspectors.
Before you send future Emails, do your readers a favor and confirm your 'facts.' The Iraqi military may not be able to out-gun our military. But, they can inflict US casualties if they aren't afforded the respect they deserve. They are far from defenseless. You are using faulty logic by saying, just because the news hasn't been discussing enemy numbers and strengths, that it must mean that the enemy has no military power.
1,200 bombers huh? Not even close.
We only have 3 different bomber types (B-1, B-2, and B-52).
Even if you add in the fighter aircraft that are planned to drop bombs, and if we used every one of those bombers and the bomb dropping fighter aircraft in our total inventory, we wouldn't have a fraction of that number.
Facts are easy to verify, just check Janes Weekly or any other defense fact book.
You only wrote about death and destruction that occurred in countries who were enemies of the USA.
- Why such slanted journalism, and why do you only criticize our country?
- Why do you only act as the advocate of our enemies?
- Why didn't you cover the death and destruction the USA suffered?
- What motivates you to write these things in such a one sided and biased manner?
Slanted thinking must allow you think it is okay to over look the massive death and destruction our country has suffered.
Write to everyone about the Alamo, Pearl Harbor, Normandy, the Nazi death camps, the Bataan death march, and hundreds of other examples of American loss of life and tragedy.
Hopefully, the process of you researching the facts about those events will enable you to write more balanced Emails in the future.
The examples of wartime horror, you selectively cited, happened long ago. They also occurred using low technology weapons. Those were the days of total war, before there was a humane focus on minimizing collateral damage and civilian casualties. Instead of using dated information, tell us about the collateral damage and civilian casualties Iraq suffered during Desert Storm. The Desert Storm numbers aren't inflammatory, so they will deflate your argument.
Tell us about the horror we can expect in our own country, if today's technology is used by terrorists to unleash weapons of mass destruction (that Saddam can give the terrorists), to use against our people in our own cities (maybe in your city).
Try to admit that there are people in this world who want to and are trying to kill Americans. Acknowledge that those terrorists will do all they can to destroy us. They will try to kill as many people as they can and they want to disrupt our way of life.
War is nasty and yes it should be avoided if possible. War is about killing people and destroying things to bend a country's will. However, when war is necessary, war should be waged to win. During the process of waging war, planners try to minimize the enemy casualties and destruction. That makes sense, because we will have less enemy casualties to provide medical care. And, with less destruction to we will have less to repair and rebuild after the war.
The USA has rebuilt the countries we've fought with. Did the countries you cited (Germany and Japan) rebuild 'any' of the countries they fought with? We also gave the countries we beat back to 'their own' people. And, we gave them back in better shape then the way we found them. Which countries did Germany and Japan ever give back, restore, or improve?
Your comment about Iraq "using biological or chemical warfare out of desperation and as a last resort" is amazing. Are you saying it would be understandable and acceptable for Iraq to use those weapons against our people???
You are correct about one thing, that is Korea and China are both watching closely. Those countries want to know, ... is the USA is run by corrupt, spineless, and morally bankrupt leaders? Or, is this country led by honest, fearless, and morally sound leaders? The Koreans and Chinese want to know if they can deal with us from a position of strength or a position of weakness. What they see happen in Iraq will shape what they do and how much they try to get away with in the future.
May GOD bless our president and all our leaders with wisdom during this national time of difficulty. It would also be nice if people like you would consider praying and offering support instead of spewing inaccurate, biased, and unfair criticisms.
Adrian, for you to be 'ours in liberty', first you have to be free. To remain free you must be willing to fight for what you believe and for all you hold dear. Or, you can choose to just sit back and enjoy the freedoms paid for by the blood of thousands of American people in uniform. In your next Email, you should quote some of our founding father's statements about freedom and the value they placed on fighting to keep it. Restore Liberty in deed.
You true intent is transparent (to insult our leadership, our military, and our country).
Have a nice day.
